Biography
Multi-faceted artist and conductor Ke-Yuan Hsin (b. 1993) is enjoying a wide range of success in his career as a performer, educator, and conductor. Winning accolades such as first prize for the Taiwan National Student Competition, semi-finalists at the 17th Khachaturian International Conducting Competition in Armenia, semi-finalist at the 2021 Lliria City of Music International Conducting Competition in Spain, and an invitation to the 8th International Competition of Young Conductors Lovro von Matačić in 2023 —Ke-Yuan is continually carving a path for himself today.

As an educator, he has conducted several orchestras internationally and led several groups to success. Serving as the teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Austin from 2019-2024, he taught university orchestra, symphony orchestra, and instructed future music educators on instrumental conducting. Currently, Ke-Yuan is a music director of the University of Texas at Austin University Orchestra where he brought a variety of programs to the ensemble. These included classical masterpieces from different cultures and periods, as well as innovative initiatives such as the orchestra's first-ever concert of Chinese music featuring the traditional Chinese instrument, the Erhu, with soloist Yun-Chen Tsai at Bates Recital Hall. He is passionate about connecting with the local community and sharing his musical knowledge. Since 2022, Ke-Yuan has led the Williamson County Symphony Orchestra accomplished in over ten concerts, and he is going to premiere the original production from one of the orchestra members in the upcoming concert.
In his various conductor/music director positions, Ke-Yuan has focused on innovative artistic partnerships highlighting a variety of community partners. In 2015, Ke-Yuan founded the Soochow Creative Orchestra. As one of the experimental collegiate classical music artist groups, the orchestra features crossover artists and composers in performing classical and new music, traditional and experimental concerts and recitals of various sizes, the combination with orchestra with Chinese instruments, and a variety of community outreach program from local schools to Rural hospitals. In 2017, Ke-Yuan served as exclusive director in Formusica, Taiwan, and conducted several world premiere productions in promoting contemporary music to communities. He has collaborated with Professor Yu-Shu Chang, Pei-Yin Lo, and other famous local artists such as Yung-Tai Liu, Hin-Iat Petrus Liu, and more. Since 2021, Ke-Yuan has premiered several pieces for composers who are popular in the nation. He recently premiered "Equinox" composed by Katahj Copley, which has now been published by several publishers and performed by several orchestras in the nation. Ke-Yuan was recently featured on the KMFA 89.5 Podcast hosted by Tyler Ehrlich for his innovative work at the Butler School of music, the performance of Der Freischütz Overture with the University of Symphony Orchestra performed this past fall.
Appearing as an international artists and conductor, he has given masterclasses and presentations to multiple classes and studios throughout the country, and conducted professionally in many states and countries across the world, including Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Llíria Symphony Orchestra, Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Orchestra Senzaspine, Williamson County Symphony Orchestra, the National Chinese Orchestra of Taiwan, and more. Currently, Ke-Yuan holds bachelor’s degrees from Soochow University in trumpet performance, as well as a master’s degree from the Universtiy of Texas at Austin in Orchestral Conducting—and is now received Doctoral of Fine Arts degree at The University of Texas at Austin. His primary mentors have been Professor Farkhad Khudyev, Douglas Kinney Frost, Paul Chiang with additional mentoring from Daniele Gatti, Carl St. Clair, Luciano Acocella, Jerry Junkin, Larry Rachleff, Donald Schleicher, Rodney Winther, Yan Huichang, Apo Hsu, and Tsung Yeh.
